The part everyone hates, done first.
A lot listing lives or dies on one image, and laying out forty cards by hand in a photo editor is the reason most lots are a blurry pile on a kitchen table. Each card is detected, cropped and straightened, then tiled into a grid at a resolution that survives eBay's zoom.
Cards are found and squared up individually, so a stack fed in at an angle still tiles cleanly.
Past a certain size the grid gets denser and switches to fronts only, so a 250-card lot still produces a usable image.
Both work. Fronts-only is offered up front, because for a big lot that is half the shots.

The cards were identified on the way in, so the description can list them individually rather than saying "40 assorted cards". A buyer scanning for one name finds it, and you never type a checklist.
The names that sell go first.
Eighty characters cannot hold forty players, so the ones that drive demand lead the title, and the strongest cards lead the first page of the grid photo. That ordering is judged per card as it is identified, not left to whatever order the stack happened to be in.
Questions sellers actually ask.
- How many cards can go in one lot?
- There is no hard cap on a lot the way there is on a You-Pick. Large stacks switch to a denser fronts-only grid so the photo stays readable, and very large lots are usually better split by team, set or year because that makes each title more searchable.
- What if my scans are crooked or on a dark background?
- Each card is detected within the scan and straightened before it is tiled. The background is matted out, so a stack shot on a table does not put a table in your listing photo.
- Can I change the title and description?
- Yes. Both are generated as a starting point and both are editable before you publish. Nothing goes to eBay until you click publish.
- Should my good cards go in a lot?
- Usually not. A card worth roughly $5 or more deserves its own listing with its own searchable title. Lots are for the long tail, and a You-Pick is the middle ground.
